As you may know, XACT Venture Company
is the first ever VC fund to focus on ESG compliant investments in Central Asia. But do you know the rationale behind ESG investing and who are the main players in the field?
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investors are "socially responsible" or "sustainable" investors, who consider their values and concerns (such as environmental) when selecting investments rather than simply considering the potential profitability and/or risk presented by an investment opportunity.
Despite criticism, ESG standards are increasingly being incorporated into company transparency requirements. For multinational organizations, they are not optional. In fact, Apple
has announced the launch of the first-of-its-kind $200 million fund, that "will make investments in forestry projects to remove carbon from the atmosphere while generating a financial return for investors." This effort is part of Apple's broader goal of achieving carbon neutrality across its entire value chain by 2030. Since 2018, Apple's stores, offices, and data centers have run on 100% renewable energy.Click here to read more about Apple's initiative
